What happens if one of my signers (recipient) declines?

When a recipient receives a document to sign, they have the following options:

  • Sign the document and click on Done
  • Finish Later
  • Reject
  • Assign To Someone Else

Sometimes it might happen that the recipient receives an incorrect version of a contract to sign. It could also be that the incorrect recipient receives a document, without knowing to whom they could reassign the signature request.

A recipient rejecting a request for signature will stop the whole signing process and make the document void. The other unsigned recipients would not receive the emails with the access links if you had multiple steps set in your signing order. The previous signers would receive an email informing them that a signature step has been rejected and the envelope is now voided.
