  • The signer is physically present with a host using the signing device.
  • Hosting a session is distinct from signing the document.
  • In-person signing does not automatically provide notarization or legal witnessing.

What is in-person signing?

In-person signing lets a signer complete an electronic document while physically present with a host, typically on the host’s device. It differs from remote signing, where the recipient accesses the request from another location.

What does the host do?

For Sign.Plus, the documented in-person process lets an account-holding host initiate the session and hand the device to the signer. The signer does not need a Sign.Plus account, but supplies an email address and completes the required consent and signing actions.

Presence is not automatic notarization or witnessing. A host’s participation does not by itself satisfy every legal identity-check or document-execution requirement.

How does it fit a request?

The host and signer responsibilities remain distinct. Where several people participate, signing steps organize their actions. Protect information displayed during the signing session, and give each person the relevant document to review rather than treating device handover as consent.

A Common Case: Signing at a property-management office

At an Arizona property-management office, a visitor could review and sign a service acknowledgment on a staff-provided tablet. Staff would show the relevant document, let the visitor complete the signing action, and protect other clients’ information on the shared device.
